Everyone knows someone amazing who’s out of work right now or looking to work part-time and pick up some extra spending money. Send them our way please.
___________________________________
Let me begin by saying, “Please, no phone calls”. I apologize if it takes me a while to get back to you but with 10% unemployment there’s a lot of folks sending in resumes.
Read the entire posting please and you’ll figure out how to get beyond the clutter of applications. If you don’t read the whole thing I’ll know that I can’t depend on you to pay attention to detail. The last thing a customer wants is someone forgetting to bring the champagne to the marriage proposal because they didn’t read the whole sheet.
This is a chance for you to make money and make a difference. The “ECO” in the subject line is capitalized because it’s pretty damned important. If you’re not a human being committed to environmental sustainability this isn’t the job for you. If you are… read on.
This can be a part-time or full-time job. That really depends on you.
Yes, we’re a business that’s growing. We’re actually hiring. In fact, revenue is up each month and it’s only going to get better from here. We haven’t even begun our marketing campaign.
We are Seattle’s first and only environmentally-friendly limousine company. You can find us at http://seattlegreenlimo.com/. Our cars are all powered by alternative fuels and our mission is to provide the best possible livery service while educating the public about the need to ween this country from our addiction to oil. Just an example of how we’re different: Our Mercedes Sedans emit about 87% less CO2 than a typical Town Car. We’re different!
And we’re looking for green-minded individuals to help us grow. Is that you?
Honestly, you can put just about anyone smarter than a monkey behind the wheel of a car and tell them to drive to the airport. That’s not what I’m looking for. We’re growing quickly and revenues are up each month in an economy that’s dragging itself along. There is money to be made out there and minds to change. I’m not looking for someone to be a body. I’m looking for someone to be a dynamo for my passengers. Someone who understands what our mission is. Someone whom the passengers will look forward to seeing again.
So that’s what I’m looking for. If you’ve got previous chauffeur’s experience that’s a plus but honestly I can teach you everything you need to know about being a hired driver in about 10 minutes. I’m looking for people who can see potential and make it happen.
First, I’ll explain the chauffeuring aspect of the job.
This is a wonderful job if you like people. After all these years I still enjoy getting in the vehicle and talking to the old couple from North Carolina who tell me all about the way things used to be and how they met. Everyone is happy in a limo. Everyone has a story. And all these folks are dying to hear about the notion of running a car on soy sauce. Birthdays, anniversaries, engagements, we do it all and every event is a special occasion that you’re a part of forever.
You must have a good driving record.
The insurance companies want you to have 7 to 9 years of good driving (usually means you’re 25 or over)
You can’t do drugs. You’ll be tested.
You’ve got to have a sense of humor.
You’ve got to be able to think and adjust on the fly.
If you’re the kind of person who wants the security of knowing you’ll be working from 9 to 5, X number of days a week this is not the job for you.
Hours are sporadic and when the customers need you. This is a great part-time job as I’m able to work around your schedule. We run 24/7 which means that a pickup can take place on a Tuesday morning at 4:30 in Bellingham or 3pm on a Saturday in Medina.
You have to be fairly close to Kirkland. That means within 30 minutes. Hiring someone from Puyallup would be counter to our belief of leaving the smallest carbon footprint we can.
You have to pay attention to detail.
If you think showing up late is ever a good idea, you’re wrong.
It’s a simple job with 4 guidelines.
1. Show up on time
2. Make the customers happy (easy part – they start happy and you just have to keep them that way)
3. Don’t crash the cars
4. Spread green!
Compensation depends on what the car is making. You make $10/hr plus tips. Tips range from a simple 20% of the run (lowest would be $10 – no limit on how high) to whatever the passengers happen to want to give you beyond that. You’re paid while the car is getting paid. If the run is from 4 to 7 you’re paid 3 hours. Some days you’ll have 1 hours worth of work, some days it’ll be 10. Again, the customers and our sales staff determine what we do.
Our sedans average about $60 an hour, SUVs $65 to $70 and our eco-limo runs about $99 an hour and up. Tips are based on those numbers. What shifts you get will depend on a number of factors.
Some of my chauffeurs like to work early mornings. Some late nights. There’s room for both.
As I mentioned before, I want you to bring in clients as well. I’ll give you the tools, you do the talking. There’s only one of me and I don’t have the time to talk to everybody in town.
But remember I want you to be so much more than a body that aims a vehicle. I’d love for you to be driving your own biodiesel Mercedes in a few months.
And, as with most positions, a big part of your job will be spotting problems and figuring out solutions. I’ve left you the opportunity to do so in this posting as well.
If you’re like me you just can’t sell something you don’t believe in. That’s the best part about this job, it’s EASY to believe in what we’re doing. We’re good citizens, we’re making a difference in the environment, we’re planting trees in Africa, we’re donating to the Humane Society, we’re underwriting KUOW, and most importantly we’re educating. In your subject line or the first couple of lines of your cover letter include the word “chocolate” so I know you’ve read this. So much of this job is detail. And you’d be amazed at how many resumes arrive from people fulfilling their “3 jobs applications a week or lose unemployment benefits”.
If you’d like to drive Seattle green, let me know. Send in your cover letter and application (http://seattlegreenlimo.com/app/app.pdf). Highlight any sales experience, your greenness, and tell me what you think of the current economy. The address is info@seattlegreenlimo.com
The sky is the limit. Let’s fly!
Go Green,
